Parent Session-Transitioning to High School

Gr. 8 transitions will be starting in the fall at your local high school. Some may start in early November with Information Nights. Bonnie Grace (Amethyst Resource Consultant) will be presenting on Wednesday, November 27th (5:30 pm) to share information on the process of transitioning to high school, course selections, course requirements, and question period. A great session to come with your child and begin the planning for next year – don’t delay! This session is open to any Amethyst families and will take place in the David Neill Centre. Always a very informative session for parents. Please RSVP to the main office if you plan on attending.

Residence Team Update

Our Residence character focus for the month of November is EMPATHY!

Thank you to the many families who participated in our Halloween Family Night. We have been pleased to see the large number of family and friends joining us each week. In residence we have been busy establishing our homework routines and supporting the school in preparation for our upcoming Student Led Conferences (SLCs).

November has arrived, along with some colder weather. Please continue to send in the appropriate clothing and footwear to be outside, and feel free to take home any additional summer clothing. Please let your primary counsellor know if your student needs help with this.

Our Emergency First Aid program is up and running on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and participating students will be trained over the next few months to make up the approximately 10 hour requirement for certification.

We look forward to a new month of supporting our students to hopefully set them up for success both socially and academically. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Happy November!
