Amethyst Silent Auction

Preparations are underway for our annual Silent Auction being held this spring. Some items we have received in the past are theatre tickets, water park and bowling passes, art work, gift baskets, books, jewellery, games, homemade jams/salsas and many other items. If you have any new or very gently used items you would be willing to donate, please send them to the main office. The deadline for donations is April 17th. If you have connections with any stores, restaurants or other companies, please contact them to see if they might be willing to donate something spectacular!

Student Health Services

A flu shot can still be administered in January. Please consider to have yourself and family members vaccinated against influenza. This can be done at your local pharmacy, family doctor’s office or health unit. Consider refraining from visiting Amethyst school or residence, if you are experiencing any upper respiratory symptoms or fever. Please use the hand sanitizer at the entrance way when you are visiting as well. If there are any further questions, contact Student Health Services at Ext. #1268. Thank you!

Residence Team Update

Our Residence character focus for the month of January is Self-Discipline.

Happy New Year from the Residence Team! 2019 has come and gone, along with the first four months of the school year at Amethyst. We would like to wish everyone health, happiness, and much success for 2020.

In December, we celebrated many different events within the Residence. To highlight, many dorms went out on different nights to the movie theatre to enjoy a movie of their choosing. Many students were able to make special trip to the mall to go “Holiday Shopping” they all had a great time and got some gifts for themselves as well. The Open House was also a huge success again with delicious snacks, a festive atmosphere and some wonderful Karaoke from the Amethyst students. Finally, we were able to wrap up the year with our annual Festive Dinner- staff, students, teachers and support staff always really enjoy this event as it allows us to all come together and celebrate the time of year before everyone enjoys their much deserved Holiday. Hopefully these are fond memories that stick with our students for years to come, while providing us a chance to work on some of our social skills within the local and Amethyst community. Following the festive dinner the students had a festive movie night and all dorms got together to view and enjoy some holiday treats.

January and the months ahead will provide us with many new challenges, experiences, and growth. We look forward to your ongoing support as we continue to provide program and activities that will help set up our students for future success in and out of the classroom. There is always a transitional period when getting back into the structure and routines of Amethyst, but we look forward to having everyone back and working hard.
