COVID-19 School Update
Parents please review the information going home in your parent packages this week for all families regarding the daily student screening assessment. All students are required to be complete the self screening tool before coming to school each day. Our residence students are screened each morning by counsellors before entering school.
Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Student IEPs for Term 1/Semester 1 will be sent home on Friday, October 16th.
High School Registrations (Sept. 2021)
GRADE 8 Students
Grade 8 transitions will be starting in the fall at your local high school. Some may start in early November with Information Nights. If your child is going into Grade 9 in September 2021, please contact your local high school and make sure you plan to attend the Parent Information night. We advise you to contact the school guidance department and make an appointment to discuss registration and course selections. Amethyst staff will provide families with course recommendations in December to help guide your selections. Contact your child’s teacher or our Resource Consultant Mrs. Bonnie Grace should you have any questions (ext. #1539).
GRADE 9 & 10 Students
Please remember to contact your home secondary school in early January to begin the registration process for September 2021.
Student Immunizations (Gr. 7)
Reminder – The Middlesex London Health Unit ( MLHU) will be in our Student Health Services mid-November (new date to follow) for Gr. 7 students who sent back consent forms. Please contact our SHS should you have questions at (519) 453-4400 ext. 1267.
Ryan’s Law (Bill 20) – Ensuring Asthma Friendly Schools
As you may be aware, Ryan’s Law (Bill 20), was introduced to ensure the safety of students with asthma while in school. If your child has asthma, we ask that you contact Susan Tasker (Nurse Supervisor) in Student Health Services at (519) 453-4400 #1267 to provide information about your child’s asthma medication.
Nut Safe & Scent Safe School – Allergy Alert!
NUT SAFE – Amethyst is committed to the safety and well-being of all students and staff. We recognize that those students and staff with life threatening or severe allergies need a safe environment in which to learn and work. Amethyst does not permit peanuts or peanut products at school. Please remember to always check food labels.
SCENT SAFE – We are a scent sensitive environment. Please refrain from wearing any heavily scented products. Thank you!
Terry Fox School Event
On Wednesday, Sept. 30 students and staff walked to fundraise for cancer research on the Nation Terry Fox School day. Congratulations Amethyst families on raising $302.70 this year for the Terry Fox foundation. Thank you for you generous support.
