Extended Day and Lodging Update
Hi Parents and Caregivers,
Short and sweet week here at Amethyst! The first Thursday of Snack Bar was a great success. The students brought in money to buy pop, candy, chips, and/or chocolate. Thank you to all caregivers for your support towards the end of the year trip! Another thank you to students Jasmine and Mackenzie for working the first Snack Bar.
Next week in both extended day and student lodging the staff are introducing social skills. Social skills are a variety of social lessons that are taught both formally and informally to students. The first social skill is Self Awareness. Self Awareness focuses on supporting students with knowing different aspects of themselves, such as their interests, strengths, and learning. Self Awareness will be discussed for the next four to five weeks. Caregivers will receive information regarding the lessons by staff at the end of each week.
Wednesday Family Visits Information:
Visits by family members are encouraged to take place outdoors or off-site. Where this is not possible, family visits can take place in the Amethyst switchboard lobby (main entrance), but visitors will not be allowed into the common areas and sleeping quarters of the student lodging. Family members visiting their child within the student lodging buildings will be required to wear a medical mask for the duration of the visit, unless receiving an exemption prior to the visit.
Please email either Janet Harju or your child’s primary counsellor if you wish to go out for family night.
Have a great weekend,
Extended Day/Lodging Team
