Amethyst’s mission is to provide a safe place where students, families and staff find support to learn, grow, discover and ultimately “Believe in Themselves”.

A reminder that students must pass the screening tool daily to attend school:

We had a great time with Halloween celebrations this week! It was great to see so much excitement in the building!

Congratulations to our award winners last week:

  • Secondary students won the Grit award
  • Mrs. Thiel’s class won the Golden Headset award
  • Mrs. KH’s class won the WOW award for Grit and Growth Mindset
  • Luke R. won the Kindness award

Our next Parent Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 9 at 5:30 pm. All parents are invited to attend. A Zoom meeting invite will be sent to all families before the meeting.

We are working on getting the pool open for use so we are asking students to pack a bathing suit with them next week so they are prepared if we get the go ahead. We look forward to being able to use the pool again!

Wishing you all a wonderful Halloween weekend!

Ms. McHardy

Happy Halloween

Student Lodging and Extended Day Update

Hi Parents and Caregivers of Amethyst,

The Extended Day and Student Lodging students had a great week celebrating Halloween! Last week, all students had the option to carve, paint, or hot glue craft items on pumpkins! This week we celebrated with Halloween Trivia, Halloween themed scavenger hunts, “trick or treating” in the building, Halloween movies and dressing up! All activities were rewarded with Halloween treats.

Snack Bar was closed this week due to the many Halloween treats they received from games and we are sure they will receive more on the weekend.

Social skills continue to focus on Self Awareness. Please check your emails for more information on the specifics of the self-awareness lesson from your child’s primary Student Support Counsellor.

As always, feel free to reach out to the Student Lodging Team Leader’s Delanie and Hillary if you have any questions, delanie.zettler@ontario.ca and hillary.r.wipperman@ontario.ca.
