Amethyst’s mission is to provide a safe place where students, families and staff find support to learn, grow, discover and ultimately “Believe in Themselves”.
Our elementary students ran the Cross Country race on Wednesday. They showed a lot of grit and determination and everyone completed the race. Our secondary students did a great job marshalling the event and encouraging all of the runners!
Congratulations to our award winners last week:
- Sydney B. won the Grit award
- Charlie G. won the Growth Mindset award
- Katelyn K. won the WOW award
- Ethan S. and Mackenzie K. won the Kindness award
Next week is Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week to help promote safe schools and a positive learning environment. Together, we will be taking the Pledge to End Bullying. Students are encouraged to wear a Pink Shirt on Friday, November 26th.
Next week the pool will open for use during physical education classes. Please see the information that has been sent home from Mrs. Vincent. Don’t forget to pack your bathing suit!
Elementary Progress Reports and Secondary Midterms are going home today in the communication folders. Please sign and return 2 copies of the report. The other copy is for your records.
We will be hosting Student Led Conferences beginning the week of November 29th and these will take place over 2 weeks. Teachers will be providing you with a date and time for your conference. The students have been working hard on these and are looking forward to sharing their progress with you.
Delivery of the items from the Dielman fundraiser has been delayed due to the current situation in BC. We have learned that the delivery left the warehouse on Thurs. so the items will arrive here next week.
A reminder to please ensure students have appropriate outerwear for outside time as well as a change of shoes for indoors.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Student Lodging and Extended Day Update
Hi Parents and Guardians,
The Student Lodging groups, and the Extended Day program have been working hard on their Student Led Conferences in homework time this week. All students are preparing a slide of photos from their after school activities as well as discussing the Self-Awareness social skill they’ve been working on. The students and staff are looking forward to sharing the SLC’s with families.
In the upcoming weeks, the social skills focus will change from Self-Awareness to Goal Setting. Students will be focusing on their IEP goals mentioned in their SLC’s, learn how to create a step-by-step goal, and the importance of goals. Student Support Counsellors will send the description of lessons home weekly.
Have a wonderful weekend!
