Amethyst’s mission is to provide a safe place where students, families and staff find support to learn, grow, discover and ultimately “Believe in Themselves”.

A reminder that students must pass the screening tool daily to attend school:

Anyone who is sick or has any symptoms of illness, including those not listed in the screening tool, should stay home and seek assessment from their health care provider if needed.

Congratulations to our award winners last week:

  • Collin L. won the WOW award

This week our Elementary students went Rock Climbing. Everyone who attended participated in the climbing and enjoyed the experience.

We have been hosting Student Led Conferences this week and will complete these by the end of next week. Students have been doing a great job of sharing their progress with you!

Bonnie Grace hosted a parent presentation this week on transitions to/within secondary schools. Thank you to those of you who were able to attend. If you could not attend and have questions, please contact your homeroom teacher or Bonnie. It is important that you look into registration dates and open house dates for secondary schools in your area. Families are responsible for completing the secondary registration. Grade 8 and Secondary students have received additional information in their communication folder.

A reminder that Friday, December 17th is a PA Day – students will travel home on Thursday, December 16th after school. School resumes on Monday, January 3rd after the Holiday Break.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Ms. McHardy

Student Lodging and Extended Day Update

Hi Parents and Guardians,

On Monday December 6th all students will be participating in the annual gingerbread house making! Using graham crackers, icing and candy students can create their own holiday gingerbread house. On Tuesday December 7th is our extended day and student lodging Holiday dinner. The kitchen staff are making turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and vegetables. Student Support Counsellors are decorating the cafeteria holiday theme and will place the students’ gingerbread houses on display. We encourage students to bring a festive outfit in.

Snack Bar is still open every Thursday for movie night. All proceeds go towards an end of year trip. Thank you to the secondary students for your support with running Snack Bar thus far.

Feel free to reach out to the Student Lodging Team Leaders Delanie at or Hillary at if you have any questions or concerns.

Have a great weekend,

Student Lodging and Extended Day Staff
