Amethyst’s mission is to provide a safe place where students, families and staff find support to learn, grow, discover and ultimately “Believe in Themselves”.

A reminder that students must pass the screening tool daily to attend school: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/

Anyone who is sick or has any symptoms of illness, including those not listed in the screening tool, should stay home and seek assessment from their health care provider if needed.

Congratulations to our award winners last week:

  • Carson M. won the Grit award
  • Mason H. won the WOW award
  • Bronson B. won the Golden Headset award
  • Whitson H. won the Kindness award

Congratulations to all of our students for completing Student Led Conferences. You put a lot of work into these presentations and we are very proud of you!

The Fishers, the family of a former Amethyst student, have donated a beautiful Amethyst Ornament to each of our students. These are in the communication folders this week. We are thankful that we are able to continue this wonderful tradition!

It is important that we all work together to keep everyone safe here at school. In order to do that, please follow and review these guidelines with your child:

  • Complete the daily screening tool before coming to school.
  • Do not send your child to school if they are not feeling well.
  • Students need to wear their mask properly at all times in the school. They are expected to bring their own masks for each day they are at school- bringing extra clean masks is also recommended.

Rapid antigen screening kits are being provided to each student to promote a safer return to school after the winter break. Please refer to the information letter that is included with the kit.

Next week we will be participating in theme days and fun activities before the winter break. Details are included in the communication folder. We are excited that both Robarts and Amethyst schools will be participating. Our staff will also be hosting fun activities on the afternoon of December 16th for our students. We are looking forward to a great week!

A reminder that Friday, December 17th is a PA Day – students will travel home on Thursday, December 16th after school. School resumes on Monday, January 3rd after the Holiday Break.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Ms. McHardy

Student Lodging and Extended Day Update

Hi Parents and Guardians,

The annual gingerbread house making on Monday was a success! Students got creative with their house ideas and enjoyed eating the candy in the process. The students were excited to show off their gingerbread houses at the Holiday Dinner on Tuesday. Special thank you to the kitchen staff for making a delicious turkey and mashed potatoes meal. Please see the photos below.

The elementary dorms, Eagles Den and The Loft, went on walking trips to nearby stores to shop for gifts. Shark Tank dorm is going shopping for gifts next week.

The holiday theme continues into next week with holiday movies, trivia, and secret santa (in some dorms).

Feel free to reach out to the Student Lodging Team Leaders Delanie at delanie.zettler@ontario.ca or Hillary at hillary.r.wipperman@ontario.ca if you have any questions or concerns.

Have a great weekend,

Student Lodging and Extended Day Staff
