Amethyst’s mission is to provide a safe place where students, families and staff find support to learn, grow, discover and ultimately “Believe in Themselves”.

A reminder that students must pass the screening tool daily to attend school:

Anyone who is sick or has any symptoms of illness, including those not listed in the screening tool, should stay home and seek assessment from their health care provider if needed.

Congratulations to our award winners last week:

  • Mackenzie K. won the Grit award
  • Ethan C. won the Kindness award

The Amethyst staff would like to wish all of our families a wonderful Winter Break and a very Happy New Year!

The hallways and classrooms were filled with excitement this week. We participated in theme days and many fun activities. A big thank you to our staff and to the Robarts student council for organizing these activities.

Spirit Wear orders have been distributed to students and they will be bringing them home this week. If there are any questions, please contact the school office.

Students have made progress in their reading and have worked diligently to make the gains they have. The two week break can have an impact on reading growth. It is critical that students continue to use the Lexia or Power Up programs during the break. Setting a goal of 20-30 minutes a day is recommended. We will be monitoring the usage of these programs as we normally do. Thank you for your assistance with this.

Student Health Services (SHS) will be sending all medications home for the winter break. Please send back any required medications upon our return to school. If there are any questions please contact SHS at 519-453-4400 x1268.

Rapid antigen screening kits were provided to each student to promote a safer return to school after the winter break. Please refer to the information letter that was included with the kit.

School resumes on Monday, January 3rd after the Winter Break. Wishing you all a wonderful break and a new year filled with happiness!

Student Lodging and Extended Day Update

Hi Parents and Guardians,

The last week of 2021 was spent celebrating! On Tuesday the morning counsellors made a Holiday breakfast for the students. The extended day and the student lodging students did trivia, jeopardy, and/or Holiday movies in their free time.

Students have been told to take all items home in the dorm except bulky items such as fans, humidifiers, mattress covers and any items on the wall. All clothing and bedding will be sent home to be laundered. Our wonderful cleaning staff does a major clean of every room over the holidays to help your child be healthy and safe. In January, please only bring what is necessary to use each week in dorm (this includes food).

We wish everyone a happy, healthy, and safe holiday. Happy New Year!
