Amethyst’s mission is to provide a safe place where students, families and staff find support to learn, grow, discover and ultimately “Believe in Themselves”.

reminder that students MUST pass the screening tool daily and show verification of this to attend school: COVID-19 school screening

You can print result, screen shot, or email verification to your child’s teacher

Anyone who is sick or has any symptoms of illness, including any not listed in the screening tool, should stay home and seek assessment from their health care provider if needed. If there are any symptoms of illness at school, parents will be called to pick up their child.

Congratulations to our award winners last week:

  • Charlie G. won the Growth Mindset award
  • Justin D. won the Kindness award

We want to wish all of you a wonderful Family Day weekend! There is no school on Monday, February 21st. All students will travel to school on Tuesday, February 22.

Please remember to check http://www.mybigyellowbus.ca/ for any bus delays or cancellations. This week we had an inclement weather day on Thursday and the school was closed. Thank you to our Student Support Counsellors for providing programming and activities for the day. Today, our transportation department made the decision to pick up our students early to ensure they are home safe for the weekend.

We had to postpone our Black History Month presentation to accommodate our guest speakers. Melissa Baidoobonso, our School Social Worker, has now planned this presentation for Friday, February 25th. We are looking forward to this opportunity for our students.

Wednesday, February 23 is Anti-Bullying Day in Canada. Students are encouraged to wear a Pink Shirt that day to show that they stand up against bullying.

A reminder that all students must complete the school screener daily and will need to verify this with school staff each day. Students are required to wear a well fitted cloth or medical mask.

Term 2 IEPs will be developed and sent home on March 22.

Our pool is closed right now, so students will not need to pack their bathing suits next week. We will keep you posted as we receive information about re-opening the pool.

We are looking for your input on yearbooks and fundraising. We will be collecting information through a survey you can find here:

We have extended the deadline to submit your responses to Friday, February 25th. We really appreciate your input.

We hope you enjoy time with your family this weekend!
