Amethyst’s mission is to provide a safe place where students, families and staff find support to learn, grow, discover and ultimately “Believe in Themselves”.

A reminder that students must pass the screening tool daily and show verification of this to attend school: COVID-19 school screening and follow the direction given.

Congratulations to our award winners last week:

  • Mackenzie K. won the Growth Mindset award
  • Shark Tank Boys won the WOW award
  • Ang S. won the Kindness award

Staff and students are still required to complete and pass the covid-19 school screener each day. Please follow the NEXT STEPS that are provided at the end of the screener, including the directions about a RETURN TO SCHOOL.

If students are absent they should be checking their Google Classrooms and completing the asynchronous work that is posted when they are well enough to do so.

Save the Date! Our Parent Council has used funds from the Parent Reaching Out Grant to book Sara Westbrook who will present to our students as well as our parents. The parent presentation is a virtual presentation that will take place on Thursday, June 16th at 5:30 pm. Please see the information below for further details. We hope to see you there!

Amethyst Demonstration School Presents: Sara Westbrook

A child’s emotional state affects their performance at school, their relationships and their physical and mental well-being. Emotions can be hard to identify, to move through and hardest of all…to talk about.

Nurturing Your Child’s Emotional Well-Being:

  • Date: Thursday June 16th
  • Time: 5:30pm – 6:45pm

In this virtual presentation, parents and guardians will learn 3 strategies to help develop: Resilience and Emotional Well-Being in Children.

Using the 3 strategies with your child will help them:

  • Self-regulate
  • Decrease anxiety and stress
  • Have a closer relationship with others
  • Communicate with empathy, respect & kindness
  • Create healthier mental and physical well-being

“Amazing presentation Sara! Your presentation clearly articulated practical strategies and tips to easily put in place, where materials I’ve tried to read on this subject have been too overwhelming.”

Parent/Frontenac PS

Congratulations to our Elementary students who participated in the track and field meet. Students performed well and overall it was a great day for everyone. Thank you to our coaches and our secondary students who helped out at the meet.

We are looking forward to our year end field trip on Tuesday, June 7th at Camp Kee-Mo-Kee. Students are encouraged to wear the tie-dye shirts they made this year for our trip!

Our secondary students will be completing culminating tasks during the week of June 13th and exams on June 20th and June 21st. On June 22, secondary students will be working with the Student Support Counsellors as well as preparing for Recognition Night. The secondary teachers have planned a trip for their students on June 23rd and in the evening they will participate in our Recognition Night. Please note that there will not be any further programming scheduled for secondary students after June 23rd as all final tasks/exams will be completed.

Student Recognition Night is scheduled for Thursday, June 23, 7 – 9 pm. Please plan to arrive and be seated by 6:45. This is an evening where we recognize all of the students and their achievements. As we will be holding this event in our gymnasium, it is necessary to set a limit on attendance.  Each student will be able to have 4 guests attend, with the possibility of exceptions, once everyone has RSVP’d and we know numbers.

Please RSVP to Mrs. Harju ( by June 13th.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
