Amethyst’s mission is to provide a safe place where students, families and staff find support to learn, grow, discover and ultimately “Believe in Themselves”.
A reminder that students must pass the screening tool daily and show verification of this to attend school: COVID-19 school screening and follow the direction given.
Congratulations to our award winners last week:
- Jacob V. and Bella W. won the Grit award
- Jax G. won the Growth Mindset award
- Haiden K. won the Kindness award
Staff and students are still required to complete and pass the covid-19 school screener each day. Please follow the NEXT STEPS that are provided at the end of the screener, including the directions about a RETURN TO SCHOOL.
If students are absent they should be checking their Google Classrooms and completing the asynchronous work that is posted when they are well enough to do so.
Our Parent Council has used funds from the Parent Reaching Out Grant host Sara Westbrook who will present to our students as well as our parents. The parent presentation is a virtual presentation that will take place this week on Thursday, June 16th at 5:30 pm. We hope to see you there! A Zoom link will be sent to all families the morning of the presentation.
We enjoyed our year end field trip at Camp Kee-Mo-Kee. Students participated in team building activities and showed their great leadership skills.
Congratulations to our Grade 6 students who completed Junior EQAO this week. We wish our secondary math students well as they write EQAO next week.
We have ordered 2021-22 yearbooks for each of our students. Our Parent Council is subsidizing $10 towards the cost for each student. Students will receive these at Recognition Night. Please send in $13.75 to cover the remaining cost of the yearbook. Payment can be made by e-transfer to email@example.com, cheque payable to Amethyst School Council or cash. Thank you to the Parent Council for your generous support of all of our students and to Ang Sampson and the students who created our yearbook!
On Tuesday, June 21, our elementary students will be going Roller Skating. Information regarding this trip is included in the communication folder. Please send in permission slips and money for the trip.
Our secondary students will be completing culminating tasks next week and exams on June 20th and June 21st. On June 22, secondary students will be working with the Student Support Counsellors as well as preparing for Recognition Night. The secondary teachers have planned a trip for their students on June 23rd and in the evening they will participate in our Recognition Night. Please note that there will not be any further programming scheduled for secondary students after June 23rd as all final tasks/exams will be completed.
Student Recognition Night is scheduled for Thursday, June 23, 7 – 9 pm. Please plan to arrive and be seated by 6:45. This is an evening where we recognize all of the students and their achievements. As we will be holding this event in our gymnasium, it is necessary to set a limit on attendance. Each student will be able to have 4 guests attend, with the possibility of exceptions, once everyone has RSVP’d and we know numbers. A reminder that our building is a scent free environment. Please help us protect the health and safety of staff and students by not wearing any scents for the evening.
Please RSVP to Mrs. Harju (firstname.lastname@example.org) by June 13th.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
