The Provincial Schools Authority, Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf, Elementary Program in Milton, Ontario, has an exciting opportunity available for an Educational Co-ordinator. The Educational Co-ordinator is a teacher who is appointed to assist in the improvement of instruction and the development of curriculum in specified areas of a school program. The duties of an Educational Co-ordinator are defined in Regulation 298 s. 14, 17 and 18. The Educational Co-ordinator must understand effective teaching techniques and how to design an effective program (including IEP expectations) or series of courses on a particular topic with Ministry requirements in mind and whether it can be effective.

The following position is available beginning in September 2022:

LOCATION: 255 Ontario Street South, Milton, Ontario

AREA OF SEARCH: Restricted to teachers currently employed by the Provincial Schools Authority.


  • Valid certification of Registration and Qualifications from the Ontario College of Teachers;
  • Deaf Specialist/Teaching Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing – Aural and Oral Communications Specialist and/or ASL/LSQ Communication Specialist;
  • Special Education Specialist qualification would be an asset;
  • Primary/Junior/Intermediate division qualifications;
  • In-depth knowledge of child and language development;
  • In-depth knowledge of Ministry, Provincial and school policies and procedures;
  • Knowledge of Ontario Education Curriculum including initiatives at the Elementary level and thorough understanding of pedagogy;
  • In-depth knowledge of IEP and modifications to curriculum and report card processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of Grade 3 and 6 EQAO evaluations.
  • In-depth knowledge of daily teaching practices and assessment and evaluation practices and the collection and interpretation of school wide data.


  • Ability/experience to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated presentation and effective communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to facilitate case conferences and presentations for staff development.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff, students, parents and stakeholders.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language and knowledge of Bilingual/Bicultural philosophy.
