Programs and Services

Our philosophy at W. Ross Macdonald is to share all that we can to help make the lives of students who are blind, visually impaired or deafblind as enriched as possible, not only for our students within our school, but also through outreach and education programs for both students and educators throughout the province of Ontario. We provide expertise on blind, visually impaired and deafblind education through our Short Term Programs, Resource Services, Sight Substitution Centre, and Alternative Education Resources of Ontario.

In the school, small classes allow our students to be supported and to feel part of a close-knit family, to be challenged, and to build confidence. Our support systems for students include Independent Life Skills Instructors, Orientation and Mobility Instructors, Student Support Counsellors, Behaviour Consultants, Nursing Staff, a Social Worker, etc.. As our students develop their skills, independence is highly regarded.
